There were a number of decisions made at our February meeting, so I thought that I would give a recap. I will be emailing the same information to the members, to reach those that may not go to the BLKG Blog.
Sadly, Vicki J. will no longer be attending the Guild meetings. She was heading up the Design-A-Thon, so we talked about continuing, with someone else in charge. The decision was made to have a contest, voting to be at the May meeting, of something made or designed and made, by the members. Each member brings in one of their projects, in a paper bag. They will be given a number for their bag. The projects will then be displayed - hopefully ceremoniously, and we will vote. First prize will be $50, 2nd prize $25, and 3rd prize $10 If we have prizes donated by some of our corporate sponsors we will be drawing for door prizes. We will then try again for the Design-A-Thon in 2018. (Remember to not share the project that you will be entering into this contest during Show & Share). It was also mentioned that if someone has started their design and is disappointed about not having our Design-A-Thon this year, entries can be made at the Wool and Sheep Festival in September.
Speaking of the Sheep & Wool Festival, it was decided that the Guild will further investigate chartering a bus (thanks Beth) to go the festival in Jefferson, WI. We will be taking a vote on making this a day trip or an overnight trip. We have tabled the weekend in Door County until next year, as we need a bit more notice for people to work it into their schedules. So staying the night in Jefferson may be a great alternative.
We have asked Lucy Neatby if she can visit our guild on Thursday, March 16th. She will be in Madison for the week, doing a seminar for the Madison Knitters Guild. Her Thursday and Friday are open, and she would enjoy coming to Green Bay. We have to get an OK from the Madison guild first, and I am in the process of doing that with their president. I will keep you posted.
Finally, we will be getting out a new membership list to everyone, as well as an updated photo directory shortly. We have to wait until Kathy E. finishes basking in the Florida sun.
That's all for now. Remember, knitting is cheaper than therapy.
